St. Michael’s Church and the Anglican CommunionThe world-wide Anglican Communion is working though some significant issues, far deeper than the sexuality debate that captures the headlines. The Episcopal Church is very much in the middle of this debate. If you follow Episcopal church matters on the internet, you are aware of it. Our parish has tried to steer a course at St. Michael's of carrying on our mission as we have in the past. What we are trying to do in these days is to be open and to keep the faith. We believe these are both important parts of being the church in our world. Our parish is open to absolutely everyone who is seeking God. Such a person will hear a message of the grace of God to us through Jesus Christ. We do not have a judgmental message here. To be sure, the call of Christ will be part of the message. Jesus summons all people to discover an "abundant life" through him. The full enjoyment of that life involves following Jesus’ way. I believe that newcomers will discover that our people are welcoming and friendly. We are a growing small/medium sized church. Both our Sunday services have plenty of people attending so that newcomers don’t stick out in a way that puts them on the spot. I said above that we are also trying to "keep the faith". These words are a fragment of a New Testament verse about holding onto the teaching of the Apostles of Christ. Some theologians in our time seem too willing to jettison the teachings of what can be called "classic" Christianity. Hundreds of millions of Christians throughout history have found these teachings to be life-giving. We want to grapple with the hard parts rather than throw them away. We invite you to worship and serve God with us in a fellowship that seeks to follow Jesus Christ our Savior. Jim Workman
